Episode 7 on YOUTUBE, our take aways after 6 months into our sabbatical!

Image
New release.  Every month I struggle to generate a video.  We hate recording a video talking about the video... this time I saved us this part, and it's only voice off... And I was too lazy to add English captions...  I'm starting to run out of ideas for videos. Well I do have ideas, but we don't like to video tape ourselves on purpose...  Anyway, I 'll figure it out.  Watch here:

Our 6th episode is out, and it's about our First time!... Sailing!

Image
Join us as we relive our first "3" sailings, filled with stress, struggles, and magical moments. Four months ago, we left everything behind—our expat life in Hong Kong—to chase a crazy dream: a sabbatical year on a sailboat, with zero experience! From our collision with a sandbank on the very first day (ouch!) to our clumsy circles in the water as total beginners, to my epic battle against my legendary seasickness during our "big" 8.5-hour crossing to Cap d’Agde, we’re sharing it all! 😷 We also talk about our chaotic boat license experience in Paris and my anti-seasickness tips.

New Youtube Video, Part 2 of our sailboat's visit: the interior

Image
The new video is out.  Presenting the interior of our boat.  As usual it was hectic to film. Because it is always in such a mess.  I did shoot some rushes to later find out it wasnt good quality.  But impossible to shoot it back because there is always someone on the boat, or it is too messy.  So I still used those rushes.  Surprisingly, it did better than the exterior video.  So I'm happy. Unlike the Macoui video, that I love, but didnt even reach the 500 views at the time I'm writing this.  Anyway, go check out the interior video here.  It's captioned in english.  If you want to watch Part 1 about the Interior, which I took more time to edit!! Check it here below Please go check out the Macoui tradition! It's so interesting and few people know about it! This one is the video I liked doing the most...

The exterior of our Beneteau Oceanis 40CC Clipper on Youtube

Image
We’re thrilled to share Vogue, our Bénéteau Oceanis 40 CC Clipper, center cockpit, on YouTube! Our goal was to drop one video a month, but June threw us a curveball—parents visiting, then friends and our son joining for the Sardinian leg of our journey. It was a whirlwind!  Still, we managed to hustle and release Part 1 of our boat presentation, showcasing *Vogue*’s sleek exterior with pride. Check it out, and stay tuned for more as we sail toward Bastia! Watch the video here below:   Part 2 of Vogue’s YouTube showcase is coming … whenever we can make it happen! Don’t expect our usual polished structure—this time, it’ll be a bit raw.  With the boat constantly in a state of organized chaos, finding the perfect moment to film clean clips is tricky. But that’s life on board! Stay tuned for more of our Bénéteau Oceanis 40 CC Clipper adventures as we sail toward Bastia.

"tuer le Macoui" video on YOUTUBE

Image
We were supposed to present the boat in our next YOUTUBE video.  But with all the back and forth to Paris this month of May and friends coming to visit, we haven't found the time to clean up the boat to make a proper video.  Not to mention we also lack of time.  But not to worry, we are replacing this video with another, while waiting for a less busy June to shoot that video.  This video is also perfect as this tells the story on how we renamed our boat according to maritime superstitions.  You will see the trailer here: You will be able to watch the video below, but let me tell you more about it.  Picture a mythical serpent trailing every boat, lurking in its wake. That’s the Macoui, a legendary creature from the maritime folklore of Brittany and southern France. This “guardian” protects the vessel, but renaming a boat without “killing” the old Macoui risks angering Neptune or sparking a clash between the old and new serpents, inviting storms and mis...

Antifouling job on youtube

Image
It was challenging to document our antifouling work on the sailboat when we first purchased it in late February.  We lacked the time during that dry dock renovation, so we dove into the work without filming ourselves much. Plus, we’re not particularly fond of showing our faces on camera. As a result, putting together that video clip was a long process. But we’re happy with how it turned out. The next episode after this antifouling video was meant to showcase our Oceanis 40CC. However, unforeseen issues brought us back to Paris, and with some friends dropping by, our time on the boat was disrupted. This might delay finishing that episode, so we may release a simpler video by the end of May instead. We’ll see how it goes.   In the meantime, you can watch the episode of our first renovation job here on youtube .

Our first YouTube video!

Image
If you had told me a few years ago that I’d put my life on display for all to see on YouTube, I wouldn’t have believed it in a million years. I enjoy sharing my daily life on Instagram, but it’s just 24-hour stories, often from a POV perspective, so I only show my face once every 10 stories or so. What triggered this decision? When we were in Hong Kong, we started watching YouTube videos of people living on sailboats and sharing their adventures. They came from all ages and backgrounds—not necessarily YouTubers at first, but they eventually became ones. It looked so 'easy' that we thought, 'Hey, we could make a video too!' If retirees can do it, it couldn’t be that hard, right? So, when we were stuck at the harbor due to bad weather and couldn’t work on outdoor renovations, I decided to make use of my free time. I dug into our archives to create what would become our first YouTube video.  It was tough at first. Digging through years of video archives wasn’t easy—especia...
